Janell James
Janell James is a Utah-based artist whose work bridges traditional and contemporary practices through layered, kinetic painting and sculpture. Trained at the Bay Area Classical Artists Atelier and Studio Escalier in Paris, she reinterprets classical techniques using acrylic glass, building ten-layer compositions that engage light, shadow, and perception. Her nature-driven practice draws from Utah’s seasons and landscapes. James has exhibited at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, Springville Museum of Art, and the C.M. Russell Museum, and received honors including Best Landscape (Women Out West, 2025) and First Place at Woodbury Art Museum. Her work has been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur, Western Art & Architecture, and 15 Bytes.
