Sally Maxwell

Sally has been working in Scratchboard for over 58 years, 53 of those using color in the medium. The International Society of Scratchboard Artists as well as the American Women Artists have recognized her as a Master. She is also a Signature member of the Society of Animal Artists. She was appointed to the Board of Directors of AWA in 2024. She has won numerous awards in multiple Museum and juried art shows nationally. Recently she won the Award of Excellence in the AWA annual show, and was the highest priced bid at BBAS for “Nuance” in 2024. She received the Award of Distinction, 2025 American Women Artists Museum show, Distinguished Artist concept in Animal Award, 2026 American Women Artists and was featured in a 6 page article in “Art of the West” Magazine , May/June issue. Through her close association with Ampersand Art Materials, she has taught a generation of artists how to use the medium. Once you have seen her work up close, you will never forget it.
