About the Artisan- Sharon Widmer

Sharon was raised on horseback in a small Iowa town, where the Western way of life shaped her from an early age. A champion barrel racer and horse trainer, she later coordinated national sponsorships for the World’s Toughest Rodeo, deepening her bond with horses and the stories they carry.

That same connection drives her work in clay. Using traditional wheel-throwing techniques, she channels the motion and energy of riding into each piece. Her pottery often features horsehair burned into the surface, leaving behind bold, organic lines, permanent traces of the animal’s spirit.

Rooted in earth, fire, and the soul of the West, her work honors the enduring relationship between humans, horses, and the natural world.
