William Alther
William (Bill) Alther's work is a fusion of his greatest lifelong interests, art and nature. A degree in wildlife biology from Texas A&M University eventually led to a position in zoology at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science for 13 years. Throughout, he was an active artist and began painting full-time in 2004. His awards include notable honors at the National Museum of Wildlife Art’s Western Visions show; the “Red Smith” Artist’s Choice Award in 2018 and 2023 and the Trustee Purchase Award in 2021. His work is in the permanent collection of the Woodson Art Museum, the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the Woolaroc Museum and many private collections. Bill lives in Denver, Colorado, with his wife, Debbie.
