Originally from rural California, Kathy Wipfler came to Jackson, Wyoming, in 1979 to learn to paint en plein air. With the help of Greg McHuron, Hollis Williford, Skip Whitcomb, and Ned Jacob, her thirty-plus years of painting the landscape in all weather conditions have seasoned her view of the natural world and the purpose of laying a brush on canvas. Wipfler has spent hours riding with the “real deal” cowboys of Wyoming and watching the abundant wildlife of the area. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Whitney Western Art Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Kathy was awarded the “Bob Kuhn” Award at the 2015 Western Visions Show in Jackson, Wyoming.
