Joshua Tobey expresses his passion for wildlife in a creative and personal way through his bronze sculptures, giving each one a distinct character and voice. His original patinas also contribute to the mood and visual texture of each piece. In recent years, the smooth surfaces and patinas of his bronzes have moved his work beyond the limits of Western art, bringing him recognition in the broader world of contemporary art. Tobey was honored as the featured artist at the prestigious 2014 Fall Arts Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He is the first sculptor in the event’s thirty-year history to be honored. “Jackpot” was awarded the Montana Memorial Prize for outstanding work at the National Sculpture Society 81st Annual Exhibition at Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina in 2014. “Keeper of the Trust & Big Dog” was awarded Presidents Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award at the Gilcrease Museum in 2014.
