Born and raised in southeastern Colorado, Gordon McConnell studied at Baylor University and the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has lived in Billings, Montana, since 1982, and has painted his version of the Wild West for more than thirty years. Southwest Art, Western Art and Architecture, and Big Sky Journal have profiled him, and his works are in numerous collections including the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, the Art Museum of Missoula, the Yellowstone Art Museum, and the University of Wyoming Art Museum, where he had a solo exhibition in 2015.
